TEC Receives Safety Award

December 1, 2014

Texas Electric Cooperatives was recognized by Texas Mutual Insurance Company in November for dedication to employee health and safety.

Tracy LaFave, safety services consultant for Texas Mutual Insurance Company, visited TEC in Georgetown to present the 2014 Safety Award to TEC Director of Operations John Maples.

“Texas Mutual Insurance has 62,000 policy holders, and only 100 are selected for a safety award each year,” LaFave said.

“This award means our individuals are very safe and that we’re taking care of them, that they can do their job in a safe and healthy work environment,” Maples said. “And in the end, that just means that they go home every day safe to their families.”

Criteria for the award include a review of safety programs, fleet applications, injury analysis and how a company ranks in comparison to similar organizations.

This is the fourth consecutive year that TEC has received the award.
