TEC Introduces Lineman Recruitment Toolkit
October 31, 2016
One hundred fourteen lineman jobs will open at 45 Texas electric cooperatives by 2020 as linemen retire, according to a Texas Electric Cooperatives survey conducted in January 2015.
To help co-ops find and enlist the next generation of linemen, TEC created the Lineman Recruitment Toolkit, which debuted at TEC’s annual Member Services Conference in late October.
“It’s a way to recruit new candidates,” said Martin Bevins, TEC vice president of Communications & Member Services. He explained that Texas co-ops requested resources to address the looming employment gap.
The materials draw on the style of Texas Co-op Power‘s October cover story, Line of Duty, which features tales and photos of Texas linemen at work and in training, said Charles Lohrmann, Texas Co-op Power editor.
