Safety & Training Programs

Texas Electric Cooperatives supports our members by providing Loss Control Specialists that support your organizations’ safety and training efforts.

Loss Control has statewide, strategically located, state of the art training fields and equipment that ensure the training process and techniques that are meaningful and relevant to the work linemen do in the field. We provide a written, structured training program as well as all coordination of the South Plains College Certified Electric Power Lineman Associate and Certified Degree programs.

A complete list of Loss Control services includes:

  • Job-site safety inspections.
  • Research and development services.
  • Maintenance of employee records for training and safety activities.
  • Participation in national and regional job training and safety organizations.
  • Job safety analysis assistance.
  • Delivery of monthly safety meeting presentations.
  • Coordinates the NRECA Rural Electric Safety Accreditation Program (RESAP).
  • Annual Training Schools – Advanced Pole Climbing, Basic Pole Climbing, Digger Operator, Hotline 1-4, Metering, Regulator Recloser Capacitor, Transformer, Troubleshooting, Underground Troubleshooting and Underground Installation, Fork Lift Certification, Defensive Driving, and First Aid/CPR Training.
  • Annual Loss Control Conference.
  • Texas Lineman’s Rodeo Support.
  • Annual Loss Control Scholarship Program.
  • Emergency Work Plan Coordination.
  • Department of Labor Apprenticeship Program Assistance.
  • OSHA General Industry Training.
