About Texas Electric Cooperatives

Texas Electric Cooperatives (TEC) is a statewide organization dedicated to representing the interests of cooperative electric utilities in Texas and the member-consumers they serve. Established in 1941 and based in Austin, TEC today represents 65 electric distribution cooperatives and the state's 9 generation and transmission cooperatives. TEC's president and chief executive officer is Mike Williams.

The association is headquartered in Austin, close to the legislative action that has and will always have a significant impact on electric cooperatives. Our headquarters building is just south of the downtown area on Interstate 35. It is conveniently located close to both the State Capitol Complex and the Austin Bergstrom International Airport.
