TEC Explores Co-op Purpose with CFC

More than 200 National Rural Utilities Cooperative Finance Corporation employees got an in-depth look into their organization’s purpose in January. Nearly all CFC staff attended “Understanding the CFC Difference” during one of four sessions over two days at the organization’s headquarters in northern Virginia.

Texas Electric Cooperatives President/CEO Mike Williams and Special Projects Manager Monica Beavers led the program, designed to explore why and how CFC employees do what they do. The program was based on TEC’s “Cooperative Purpose 101” training, which builds on concepts explored by the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association’s “21st Century Cooperative Committee Report.”

“The training TEC facilitated provided CFC employees with a better understanding of how electric cooperatives do business, what impact they have on the lives of their member-consumers and how they tirelessly work to improve the lives of the communities they serve,” CFC CEO Sheldon C. Petersen said. “CFC’s entire focus is on electric cooperatives. Mike and Monica helped connect the work we do every day to the broader purpose driving our member-owners.”
