East Texas Co-ops Host Youth Leadership Seminar

Nine Texas electric cooperatives sponsored 102 students for the 25th edition of the East Texas Rural Electric Youth Seminar held June 24–28 at East Texas Baptist University in Marshall. The conference enhances youths’ leadership, problem-solving and interpersonal skills.

The students, joined by nine youth directors and 27 chaperones, stayed in campus dorms and attended seminars and workshops aimed at developing leadership skills.

Students also competed for $9,000 in scholarships by participating in interviews and taking a test. Opportunities to interact included a dance, talent show, pizza night and a movie.
